This sculpture explores the changing relationship between a mother and her son — the profound transition from a time when she is his entire world to one where she becomes the steady, reassuring presence in the background of his life.

Deliberately timeless and without reference to any particular culture, the work speaks to the universal bond between mothers and sons.

I wanted to preserve the spontaneity and looseness of the making, capturing movement and emotion without overworking the forms. My hope is that the feeling comes through naturally, allowing the sculpture to tell its own story.
