As suggested by the name, the idea for this abstracted figurative sculpture came from a piece of driftwood. ‘It caught my imagination immediately I saw it and, as it was too big to retrieve, I made sketches of it to take back with me to the studio. To me it is a very joyous, uplifting figure’.
